Tuesday 4th January – walk *** – The Dip to Felixstowe Ferry – cloudy
with light rain and cold.
The mild weather of late has sadly gone as the temperature drops during the
day with some light rain too. With loads of flood warnings today and with
high water at Bawdsey at 12.18 we decided to drive to The Dip and walk to
Felixstowe Ferry to check it out. I did my exercises first, the first time
for several days before setting off at 11.30 and were lucky that the light
rain had stopped. It was nice and quiet as we set off along the prom
towards The Ferry with very little beach left! The tide was still whizzing
up the River Deben, in fact high water was not reached until at least an
hour after the advertised time! The jetty had disappeared under water at
the Ferry and some of the boat yard was under water as we walked around
with me snapping pics. We had a quick walk out along the Deben path to see
the delict boats, my favourite yellow boat was only just visible! We could
not get back through the boat yard now due to the tide so took another
route back to the jetty with Winkles Café now surrounded by water! Back
across the golf course with the wind behind us with loads of birds out on
the shingle bar, not that there was much of that left! Home for lunch and
to make a real fire while afternoon TV:)
PS - managed to get one of my pics on the lovely Chris Pages About Anglia
weather today :)
